The grass was green, the trees were tall, the shade was dark, and the sky was cloudy. It had just turned noon on a Saturday afternoon. Sitting in the shade of the tree was a fifteen year old Hogwarts student by the name of Tristan Lycanthe, but she went by Tris. She was wearing her school robes with her proud Ravenclaw sign on them, some black and pink sneakers and her hair up in a ponytail. In her hands laid a romance novel. Anyone who stood and watched her for a good few seconds would realize that she was reading at an amazingly fast speed. Every few seconds a tear or two would fall from her cheeks on to the notepad that laid on the ground beside. On the note pad were a few scribbles about what was in the book and how she could use it to help other people. As Tris turned to the next page, a huge gust of wind blew and made her loose her page. So Tris quickly turned back to the page before she lost her place.

Ashley had been looking for a good place to take a nap. The Gryffindors were always loud and though random explosions and loads of chatter had become background noise, he much preferred solitude and quiet. He wouldn't have to worry about pranks from anyone. Or be set afire accidentally by Seamus Finnigan. Ashley had already made sure to read and get the water spell down as well as any other flame suppressant spells. It was a hassel but he'd gotten his parents to buy him flame retardent robes.

Finding a place beneath a tree he found a notebook. Prodding it with the tip of his black plimsols he looked up in the tree. Hands still inside the pockets of his dark windbreaker Ashley wondered why the bird would climb up there in her uniform on a windy day. "I can see your knickers," he stated blandly.

Tristan looked up at the sound of a voice and turned a bright red, "Excuse me?" She crossed her legs and tightened the robes around her legs. She glares and jumped out of the tree, landing perfectly on her feet. "Do you always stare up at girls in trees?"

Ashley watched the girl get red faced and how she tried to fix it so he wouldn't see. Too late for that and what was seen could not be unseen. Staring at her nonplussed he replied, "At girls in trees, only if they happen to be up them. Up girls' skirts, not at all. Unless they happen to put themselves on display like you did."

Really it wasn't as if he had purposefully done it. He'd only been looking for a good place to nap. She was the one who wanted to go climb a tree in a skirt where anyone passing below could see of they looked up. Now that she was out of said tree, he slid down to sit so his back was against the trunk. "Blame your notebook," he told her rather than asking what she'd been doing up there in the first place.

"My notebook did no harm. Your eyes are the offending party here, Little Cub." She growled and held her book to her chest. "Who are you anyway?" He appeared to be younger than her by a few years. She raised and eyebrow and pursed her lips, rather annoyed. Who did this guy think he was. While he was rather cute, he had annoyed her beyond repair.

Rolling his eyes and shutting them since they offended her. Letting his head lean aginst the bark he got more comfortable since he planned on being here for a bit. "Eyes are for seeing. What do want everyone to do, run about with their eyes shut around you in case you feel like shimmyingupa tree? And if you don't want people to see your knickers you shouldn't be up in trees."

He heard annoyance in her voice which he was used to. He annoyed quite a few people. His attitude seemed to do that. He couldn't be arsed to try and fake politeness. Took too much effort and was stupid. Not opening his eyes he asked, "Why?"

He could have answered her, it might have even gotten rid of her. It was just fun this way, and saying one word was easier than saying two.

Tristan growled and rolled her eyes "Of course I dont expect that. But I do expect people not to look up my skirt. And I happen to like it up there. It gets me away from all the drama that happens on the ground." She quikly climbed back up the tree and sat down, "You should try it. Its actually rather comfy up here." She decided instead of fighting with the young boy, to see if she could befriend him. But seeing as he had annoyed her so easily, she would probably go back to wanting to rip his throat out. "I'm Tristan, by the way. Tristan Lycanthe. But people call me Tris. Except for Olli. Olli calls me Precious." She smiled at the tought of her Little Devil, that was her nickname for Olli, what with his tricks and treats game and making an ink packet explode all over Tessa. She giggled and crossed her legs so he couldnt look up her skirt again.

Again with the skirt! Like he'd wanted to catch a flash of her knickers. It was stuck in his brain now though. Getting away from people, he could inderstand that. His father like high places too and if he had a bad day Ashley and his mum could usually find him on the roof. Used to drive his mum sparse when he took baby Ashley up there. He kept his eyes shut when he heard her go up the tree again. Maybe she really was a bird.

At the mention of his fellow Gryffindor he gave a groan. She would happen to be friends with him, wouldn't she? He was sure Oliver Adams was trying to make up for not being a Weasley and to fill in for them since they were gone. It was funny, but not when it ruined Ashley's mood or when he was trying to nap.

"Ashley," he sighed out since she would learn his name anyway. "And no thanks. I prefer to sleep on the ground instead of a tree."

He grinned, "Not all of us are birds in disguise you know."

"Actually, I'm not a bird. If anything, I'm a wolf. I love hunting and running and stuff." Tristan laughed, she had been hunting since she could hold a gun. She jumped back down again, this time almost landing on him, "Oops. sorry." She giggled and ran her fingers through her hair, "So Ashley, what brings you out here anyway. Most people would inside what with it being this windy and all. I'm just a special case. I like the wind. But not when it makes me lose the page in my book." She took out her wand and used a spell that made her book disappear and then reappear on her bed in her room. She sat beside him and looked up into his eyes, "Pretty..." she whispered.

The complete opposite of himself then, but most people were. Where his roommates were messy, he was neat. They werd loud while he was quiet. Sometimes he was sure that hat placed him with the lions because of that. And also because of his laziness. He didn't think the other houses would permit it. Opening his eyes in surprise when he was nearly fallen on, he blushed at her proximity to him.

"Um, I'm a Gryffindor." Clearing his throat he elaborated. "They're loud and rowdy and I don't want to be pranked while sleeping."

Feeling himslef blush more as she sat next to him and invaded his space. Never having his eyes called pretty, he mumbled, "Thanks?"

He was a bit confused, annoyed, and embarrassed. Ashley tried to move his head back out of the way and forgot their was a tree there. He smacked the back of his head against it, winced as an "ow" came out of his mouth and found himslef right back where he started. This time more embarrassed than before.

"Well arent we Captain Smooth?" She laughed and leaned her head against the tree. "So Gryffindor lives up to its reputation of being a part house, huh?" She shook her head and pulled a leaf out of her hair. "Well you're welcome, Brown Eyes." She giggled at the little nickname. Sure it wasnt as creative as Little Devil, but it was something. She sighed as the wind blew all around them. She shivered but embraced the cold air around them.

Shrugging lazily thankful she was out of his immediate space, Ashley shut his eyes again. Prat house? "Depends."

Getting confused why she called him brown eyes Ashley shrugged it off. He couldn't be bothered to find out if she was color blind or having a go at him. At least she blocked some of the wind for him. Maybe he should have chosen a different spot to lounge in? Even if grass was softer there were other places that could have sheltered the wind.

A cheeky smile crossed his face. Amusement was clear in his voice. "How do you plan on getting to the castle with out flashing people?"

With the wind the way it was he was sure that her skirt would be doing at least one reversal. It would be hilarious if she tried to shufflewalk herself back clutching her skirt like she had up in the tree.

"I plan on doing this." She took out her wand and casted a charm on her skirt that made her skirt stay in place. She jumped up and spun around to demonstrate, the skirt stayed in place. She ggield and then sat back down, "Tada. Magic at its finest. And I thank you." She bowed her head dramatically and smiled. "So Ashley, How do yo plan on protecting yourself from the evil wind gods?" She giggled and leaned back.

Not opening his eyes because really it was too much effort and hassel to keel opening them for the weird girl. He had heard movement and supposed she'd figured out a way to fix her problems. Then there was that giggle again. Her seeming giddiness had him wishing even more for a nap but knew he'd not get it here. He sighed as she sat back down. Pushing himself up to stand, he looked up as he felt a drop of rain hit his face. "Wind seemed lonely and brought the rain," he observed.

Looking back down at the girl then back towards the castle he guessed he'd get soaked by the time he got back no matter what speed he ran. Not being in a rush he glanced back at the girl. "Not the wind you should worry about now."

Rain meant colds and people getting sick. Not good. Gryffindors being thick headed would end up with most idiots being sick. That meant he'd have to be forced to room with sloppier roommates than normal. Just thinking about it made his eye want to twitch but he fought it.
Ashley began his trudge to the castle. "Don't get sick funny bird. Girls look worse than blokes all blotchy and runny."

Tristan felt a few raindrops hit her face and looked up. The sky hard turned even darker than it had been before and the wind was picking up speed. "Well then, I guess we better head back inside. I'm sorry for my awkwardness. I know I'm not a normal person..." She said with her head down. She didn;t want to make him feel guilty or anything, but it was true. "I'll try not to Lion cub." She nodded solemnly and made her way back to the castle.

Ashley stopped when he heard her comment, waiting for her to catch up. Were there such thing as normal people? Maybe on the scale of normal, but who was he to judge? He wasn't exactly 'normal' either. Thankfully he'd yet to have a major meltdown or rant. It was only a matter of time, but for now he was thankful that it hadn't happened. He didn't like it when he lost his cool. With the water plastering his hair down as it began to pour, Ashley shook his head and blinked. "As long as you don't call me, Cubby," he smiled.

That was something he would have to have words about. That brought to mind a bear not a person. Hunching his shoulders he told her honestly, "Being sick is no fun. If I was to be sick, I'd rather it be at home where my parents can spoil me."

Being sick at school, was not fun. The potions were not pleasant and he would rather not look like a cartoon character with the steam billowing from his ears. A bit out of character he stated, "I'll race you to the castle. Last one there has to ask the house elves for the Hot chocolate." Without waiting, the Gryffindor took off running.
