So maybe she had deserved that chewing out she had gotten from Professor Snape. After all, she had fallen asleep in his class. And it wasn't even the light kind of sleep either. It had been the snoring, drool on yourself, completely zonked out kind of sleep. But Merlin, did the man have to get so personal about it?

Now, thanks to her own temper flaring, she had one more thing cutting into her time. It was called detention. Like the rest of the shit she had to deal with wasn't enough. Now she had to deal with extra Snape. It really was her own fault, and she knew it too, but hell the man could dig in the knife and twist it when he wanted.

Thanks to this new turn in events the brunette had grabbed a very quick dinner in the great hall before racing off to the library looking agitated. She really hated that most of her meals were spent in ten minutes or less lately, or weren't even spent eating at all. But what could she do? The teen was a busy girl with not enough time on her hands. Something had to suffer and it was quickly becoming her sleeping and eating habits.

Skyler needed to finish her ancient runes homework which was due the next day, and considering she would be in detention for who knew how the hell long after dinner...

Huffing, the Slytherin nearly pouted. She never got dessert anymore. Dessert was the best part of dinner, and she never even made it to that part these days. Granted, the brunette didn't like most desserts, but still. Place a cheesecake anywhere in the area and the teen would eat it. All. If one let her.

Sky was grumbling about the injustice it was to not even get dessert when she came upon a table that had books and whatnot spread across apart of it, but no one was around. She looked this way and that way, and then shrugged and dropped her bag into one of the available seats. Reaching in her own bag to pull out the things she needed before she sat herself, her purple eyes strayed over the books already there.

"Healing books?" Her brow arched, and just as her hand reached over to pull one of the books towards her interested self, a clearing of a throat had her gaze snapping up to the person the books apparently belonged to. Her first instinct was to grin sheepishly, like a child who had gotten caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Unfortunately, her day wasn't apparently done being terrible, because this particular person she knew, and had already had a rather bad run in with. It was also most unfortunate that this person was a good friend of Harry's, atleast, that's all Sky really knew to be the case. Which meant she had to atleast try and be civil. After all, her Gryffindor already knew she didn't do nice. For the most part.

So the Slytherin bit back the groan and forced down her dislike, and managed a tight and forced grin for the older girl. "Hey Taylor." The awkward silence grated on her nerves for the moment it stretched, so Skyler did the one thing she could think of. "Is there some kind of healing class I don't know about that's offered?" She questioned the girl, in a bid to both squash the awkward silence and to sate her curiosity.

After all, she did need to learn some new healing spells. Merlin knew she was going to need to know more than she currently did.

It had been a long, long week. Really, it was turning into a long year already and it wasn’t even Halloween yet. Felicity just kept getting struck with new blows and each one had her fighting to catch her breath. First she found out about her dad, then she talked to Harry and found out even more. There was that run in with Granger that ended in her blood being spilled, and the altercation in the greenhouses with the harsh new Slytherin.

As if that wasn’t enough of a start to her school year, she’d completely embarrassed herself by asking Harry to the costume ball, been stood up for a trip home to introduce said boy to her mum, and, oh yeah, she’d practically been assaulted in the Astronomy tower. And she’d done things with Tobias that made her seriously confused about exactly where she stood with her oldest friend. No big deal.

The blonde was completely stressed out and for once it had nothing to do with her studies. She actually had a pretty clear idea of what she wanted to accomplish there now, thanks to a few different conversations she’d recently had. That was what brought her to the library on this lovely day. She was sure the librarian was beyond tired of seeing her smiling face and nervously dancing eyes, but Felicity didn’t much care what the old bat of a woman thought of her. She needed to use all the healing and medicinal tomes she could get her hands on, and that meant a long study session full of note taking and frustrated sighs.

She slipped off from her fortress of texts to look for one specifically focused on surgical procedures in the magical world, only to find someone else at the table when she returned. It wasn’t just someone else. It was that snake who’d pushed her into dung. The one called Riddle. The one who Harry was dating. But Felicity didn’t care about who Harry did or didn’t date, did she? He’d made it clear that he was not interested in her, so she should just let him be and move right along. Besides, she had the ‘friends’ and ‘benefits’ and the ‘with’ thing going on with Tobias. She didn’t need Harry.

Giving the snake a slight glare and a raised brow, Felicity slowly sat back down and opened the newest book she’d gathered. ”Riddle,” she said with hardly any emotion at all. Let the girl worry about how her precious boyfriend’s godsister felt about her. Served her right. ”No, there is no healing class, Riddle. I study all this in my spare time. I’m going to bring magical and muggle medicines together in an incredible harmony once I graduate. You just wait. I’ll be famous before you even start your final year.”

Maybe she shouldn’t be bragging like that, but who really cared? She was damn proud of what she did. It didn’t matter how pompous she sounded at the moment. She rarely had moments of pride, usually feeling like she was falling short on everything, but this was something she excelled at and it was all her own doing. She worked hard and she deserved to be proud of that. She smiled at the younger girl. ”I’m nearly as good as Pomfrey already, and that’s without any formal training. Well, I do a little lesson with her every couple of weeks, but it’s more discussion than anything practical… But yes. I am quite a good healer at this point. You can ask the McGregor triplets.”

If Skyler was at all surprised by the way she was greeted by the older girl, she didn't show it. She did have to fight back the glare that threatened to break on her face. Part of the teen wanted to return the glare with her own heated one, even if she knew it was childish of her. The other part of her, probably the smarter part, didn't want to cause bumps or issues between Harry and his friends, and this particular puff was a friend to him.

Which meant that no matter how badly it tasted to her, Sky would atleast attempt to get along. Attempt, being the key word there. It seemed like this chance meeting wasn't going to go any kind of good at first, but her question seemed to have sparked some rather strong pride in the Hufflepuff, and that atleast gave the Slytherin something to work with.

The brunette frowned when the older girl told her that there was no healing class. That sucked. Just when the brunette thought she was back to square one, having to research and learn it herself, the Hufflepuff ranted on about how she was going to be famous for her healing skills. Skyler cocked her head at the other girl, looking both intrigued and honestly curious.

"Magical and Muggle medicine?" She supposed it had some kind of merit to it, or at the very least had to, if the Taylor was all into it. She had that sort of, proud goofy look when he mentioned it, as if it was her life's passion. Sky had seen that look on others, but wasn't exactly sure she had ever had it herself. Rather than get lost on that errant thought, she focused back on the topic at hand.

"So how exactly do you plan on doing that anyways? I mean, are there a lot of people who think blending the two together works well or what?" To be honest, the teen really was intrigued by the idea. She didn't know crap about muggle healing, but even she had to admit that sometimes when magic wasn't an option, it was good to have a back up plan. "Also, what would you suggest someone wanting to study healing in both should start out with anyways? I've got a sort of..side project..that involves some healing experience."

The Slytherin was all too aware she shouldn't really expect help from the older witch, not after original run in, but it couldn't hurt to try. Besides, she was kind of hoping the Hufflepuff would be distracted by the fact Sky was interested in the first place and just answer her. Absently, the brunette wondered why Harry hadn't just asked the other girl to heal him after his little meetings with the Head Girl. This time, Sky really had to work to keep the glare off her face. The teen did not like the idea of her boyfriend being locked up for hours at a time with LeBeau. She understood why he was doing it, and why he had gone to her, of all people, and she trusted Harry. But she still didn't like it.

Felicity felt the need to pinch herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. She yelped in pain as she plucked at the inside of her arm, then shook her head in wonder. Wow. She really wasn’t dreaming. Riddle was actually being… nice. To her. And she was interested in her plans for her future. What the hell had happened to the girl? She knew that something big had gone on between her and some of the other Slytherins, and that she was now dating Harry, but she never expected the girl to start actually being nice to her.

It looked like the girl had some honest desire to know how Felicity was going to make history, so the girl sighed and shoved aside the resentment she felt for the younger female. Oh, yes, Felicity felt a lot of anger and jealousy toward that particular Slytherin. First of all, the girl had shoved her into a pile of dragon dung in the greenhouses. Secondly, Felicity had developed a rather large crush on the Golden Boy, Harry Potter, the one who this Slytherin happened to be dating. But that wasn’t this girl’s fault. It wasn’t like only one person could have a crush on someone, and it wasn’t like the Hufflepuff had any sort of claim over the Gryffindor.

”It hasn’t been done yet, as far as I can tell. I’ve been trying to research other combining the two forms of healing for years, but I’ve never found anything about it. That’s why I’m going to make history,” she smiled with pride shining in her eyes. ”If you want I guess…” she took a deep breath and fought the part of her that was screaming for her to stop what she was thinking, not say what she was about to say, and just suggest a good book to the girl. ”I guess I could teach you some stuff. I mean, if you’re willing to put in some hard work and take some good notes that is. I don’t have time for slackers.”

Well, there it was. She’d done it. She’d offered to teach the girl and that was that. She couldn’t very well take back the offer. She was already regretting opening her big mouth. Why was she such a natural helper? Why couldn’t she just ignore people in need? Oh, it was incredibly annoying, being so damn good. She looked at the younger girl anxiously, hoping that for some reason or another she would decline the offer.

Skyler watched the older girl pinch herself, yelping out afterwards, and the brunette's head cocked automatically to the side in the tell tale sign of her curiosity. She arched a brow at the action, but otherwise didn't comment. She was sure if Taylor wanted to explain, she would. For now, the younger teen wasn't in any place to really question the Hufflepuff, what with the bad blood between them and all.

The Slytherin had to be fair. Maybe she had overreacted back in the greenhouses when she had first come face to face with the older girl. Neither one of them had seemed to have made the best first impression, and Skyler could own up to that on her end. This time around, even though they were already on bad footing, Taylor didn't seem so bad. She still seemed a bit like a head case to the teen, but for Harry, Sky was willing to try and make amends.

Though he wouldn't say it aloud, the brunette knew that dating her caused the Gryffindor extra problems. Problems he did not need. And even though he didn't mention it, she knew their relationship was likely causing rifts between him and his friends, and at the very least tension. The Slytherin really didn't want Harry to lose friends because of her, so she decided she would atleast not make things worse and try and be civil.

But the Hufflepuff was a different story than some of the Gryffindors, like Granger. For one, Sky was almost certain Granger was a lost cause to her plan of action. Her and Granger were like oil and water. The two just didn't mix. Some people just weren't meant to get along, and that seemed to be the running theme between the Slytherin and Gryffindor's pride and joy. This didn't seem to be the case with the Hufflepuff before her. The brunette could honestly say that the older witch was rather interesting, and tolerable. In short spurts.

Taylor just seemed a bit..stuck up? She wasn't entirely sure that was the right term exactly, but it was the only one that came to mind. Something about the older girl had rubbed Sky the wrong way that day in the greenhouses, and truthfully, it still did. It was the way she talked, the way she looked at one, as if she were somehow better. As if she was something more. That's what annoyed the teen about the Hufflepuff. Or maybe it was that they each just had a lot of pride, and neither was willing to take a bruise to it. That could just as easily be the problem.

At any rate, she listened intently to what Taylor said, eyes straying to the table in front of her, dark brows furrowing in thought. She still didn't understand. "I get that's what you want to do. But how do you plan on accomplishing it? I mean, do you have a plan of action to achieve it?" Skyler questioned, realizing a moment too late that it might have come out more doubtful sounding than she had meant, and immediately tried to correct it. "That might have come out wrong. I mean, I really do think its a great idea. A little different, but different is always good in my opinion." She quickly tried to reassure the girl with an honest tone.

"It's just, I am really interested in what you want to accomplish. It sounds like a solid idea to me anyways." She finished with a graceful shrug of her shoulders, looking back up at the Hufflepuff when she offered to teach her some healing things. A look of disbelief and oddly enough, hope, flashed across her face before she settled on pure curiosity. Her brows furrowed together in thought again as she considered the older witch, a frown now marring her face. "But why? I mean, I really do appreciate the offer, don't get me wrong, and I really could use a sort of tutor for this kind of thing, and trust me when I say I am completely dedicated to actually learning it, and it's vital that I learn it, so slacking isn't an option. But.."

Skyler continued to frown, her hand moving to rub the back of her neck absently. "But why would you want to help me?" She finally got out, and she didn't look or sound the least bit suspicious. The Slytherin merely seemed to be honestly curious. Sighing, the brunette rolled her purple eyes. "Although, that does being us close to the topic of our last meeting, something I should apologize for. So yea. I'm sorry." And then, because the teen couldn't help herself, she flashed a playful grin to the older girl, adding on, "That you annoyed me, that is, and forced me to shove you into dragon dung." It was clear from her teasing tone and amused eyes that she was teasing the older girl, but in a playful, almost friendly, manner.

Rather than thinking the girl was doubting her, Felicity found the questioning to be rather… encouraging. She was challenging her the way people would when she tried to get a foot in the door of the medical community, and now she could try to prove herself to this girl in the way she would work to prove her worth to those who would decide her future. She grinned widely, barely keeping herself from interrupting the Slytherin. Maybe they had started things off completely wrong and they actually had the potential to be some sort of friends.

This sure seemed likely as the girl continued talking to her in a kind way. It seemed she didn’t want to rub Felicity wrongly again, and that made her rather happy. At the same time, she felt like the younger girl was walking on dragon eggs around her, and she didn’t like how uncomfortable she seemed. She wanted desperately for the brunette to relax.

It seemed she got her wish as the young Riddle finally joked about their first meeting. It was the playful tone in which she said it that kept Felicity from telling her just how wrong that assessment was. So she’d been a bit of an annoying stickler for rules that day… the younger girl shouldn’t have been collecting ingredients for some secret potion! Felicity bit her tongue and kept from commenting, simply shaking her head and letting out a soft laugh.

”Alright, I guess I deserved that one. But you weren’t exactly in the clear either you know,” she said, shaking her blonde locks out of her face and grinning. ”I’m going to do things that no one has ever done and I’m going to prove the worth of those things with plenty of research and examples. It’s going to take a lot of work but… I’m ready for it. I’m committed to my dream, you see. I… I don’t exactly know where I’ll find the funds to follow my dreams, but I’m sure I can figure something out.”

She let out a little sigh as she thought of all the things she could accomplish once she got an in with the medical community. ”I think it has a lot of potential, too. I just really want to help people, you know? Make a difference. It all depends on my research though. I have to prove to those in charge that what I want to do is actually worthwhile. I just hope that I can show them how much of a difference muggle medicine can make when combined with magical healing. That’s why I have all these books. I’m going to have amazing essays and proof to show them all how perfect the two can meld…”

Realizing that she was blabbering, Felicity focused herself on the girl before her and the apparent needs she had. ”I guess I’m just naturally inclined to help people,” she said with a shrug. ”It might be my fall back plan actually. Teaching. I like to see the light in people’s eyes when they understand something… that moment when it suddenly clicks. It’s rather magical in its own way.”

Felicity cleared her throat and gathered up her papers, neatly organizing them in a thick stack. ”So, when do you want to start learning?”

Skyler grinned unrepentantly at the Hufflepuff. "Yes well. I'm not exactly known for flowing the rules and such. I'm a firm believer in the saying that rules are meant to be broken. Or at the very least, meant to be bent." The brunette advised simply. It was the truth. And she wasn't going to apologize for it. Life was too boring when one stayed in the lines, and it wasn't like what she had done that time around hurt anyone or anything. Except for Parkinson's pride. Besides, if the older girl really meant her offer to help her some with the healing stuff, Sky thought it only fair to let her know ahead of time just who she was dealing with.

Not that the teen was one to slack off. When the Slytherin really wanted to learn something, her focus and determination was complete. It was just usually hit or miss in certain areas and classes. As the older girl rambled on about the things she wanted to accomplish, Skyler could tell she was really passionate about it, and really believed in what she was talking about. She listened in rapt attention, her dark brows furrowing in thought as the wheels in her mind turned. It was clear that the older girl would find some way to succeed, and maybe this was a good chance to put the idea Harry had given her to the test.

It had come up innocent enough, when the Gryffindor had shared with her the fact that he had invested in the Weasley twins and their business, giving them the start up money. Then it dawned on Skyler how she was inheriting more than she could ever know what to do with. And, of course, wars were expensive. Anyone who had ever read a book on history, muggle or not, would be able to tell one that. It might have sounded far beyond the mental capacity of a fifteen year old girl, but the Slytherin was not the average fifteen year old girl. She didn't have the luxury to be that. So these were the kinds of things her mind mulled over.

Taylor had said something that struck her too. She just really wanted to help people, and make a difference. Was that so far from what Sky wanted too? If it was, then it wasn't too far off, and it was definitely an idea that the brunette could support and back. The idea the older girl had was a good one, and the Slytherin didn't think money should keep her from creating something that had the potential to save lives and help people that may be more effective than the ones currently in use. After all, who knew where this war would lead? It could always turn out that the key to saving someone was in the Hufflepuff's head or something.

And she said she liked to teach. Maybe once she got her theory actually working, she could teach her knowledge to others. Skyler felt she that she was sitting on the verge of some great discovery, or adventure, or something. She wasn't exactly sure what it was, but it was something, and she wasn't going to let the opportunity pass her by. It seemed like her mind was made up, so she flashed the older girl a blinding grin. "You know something, I think it has a lot of potential too. And first impressions put aside, I think I rather like you Taylor. You're smart, dedicated, determined, and clearly passionate about what you wanna do. I really see no reason why funds should get in the way. Especially since I think what you wanna do would make a huge difference in a lot of lives."

The teen sat back in her chair, relaxing further with an almost excited grin on her face, and a slightly hopeful look. "Sooo..I want to help you in your endeavor. I want to be your..umm..what do they call it?" Skyler glanced around, unsure, obviously searching for the right word or term she needed. She snapped her fingers when it finally came to mind. "Financial backer!! That's what it is!!" The brunette claimed with a bit of exuberance. But such was the nature of the strange Slytherin. She bit her lip, and it was obvious her mind was working again. "I'm not really certain how this sort of thing really gets off the ground though. Maybe you could get a bit of direction on that by sending off one of those essays of yours to a well known healer or something? See what their opinion on it is and go from there? Unless you have some plan on how this will all work? Details like this aren't exactly my forte."

The brunette rubbed the back of her neck nervously, giving a sheepish grin. So she knew what she wanted the outcome to be. Getting there was just a bit fuzzy currently. After all, the teen had no clue how the healing world worked. She just wanted to help, so she hoped she hadn't made a huge idiot of herself. If she had though, well, it wouldn't be the first time. "Oh, and as far as when I want to learn, anytime you have the spare time would be great. Or even now if you wanted. It's really up to you."

Deciding not to comment on the girl’s opinion of rules and their being broken, Felicity simply sat there listening to the rest of the words that fell from the brunette’s lips. Every now and then, the blonde’s gaze darted to the crotchety librarian to make sure they weren’t being too loud, but she got the gist of what the girl was saying. It was not exactly something Felicity ever expected to hear…

The girl could appreciate the fact that this younger student actually saw the potential in her future plans, but she wasn’t used to people proposing such things as accepting such a huge hand out! ”I… I couldn’t just take something like that! That’s huge!” The glare from the librarian had her biting her lip to keep from yelling any louder. Instead, she kept her mouth shut and thought for a while before speaking again.

”I might take you up on that offer,” she said softly, keeping her voice down so as to avoid the librarian’s rage. ”But I will pay back every penny once I’m a famous surgical healer. And you’ll take the money back and like it, go it?” There. Now that that was settled, she could focus on the whole ‘teaching the Slytherin how to heal’ thing.

Well, she supposed she’d start with the easiest subjects- simple spells to heal small wounds, the best way to splint and soothe a break… She would of course have to give the younger girl a bit of reading material, too. The blonde started in on the teaching, opening a few of the books and placing them in front of the Slytherin, pointing to different diagrams and healing methods while explaining what they entailed and ways that muggle and magic methods could combine.

She was sure the younger girl might not be so happy to have started this battle with the books, especially by the time they finished sometime late that evening, but for now, she was just going to keep chugging along, teaching her whatever she could because that was just the type of person Felicity was. As long as the brunette was willing to learn, the Hufflepuff was willing to teach, and so the case would be for as many sessions as it took to get her up to snuff with whatever levels of healing skill she needed.
