| Heart pounding, Silas made his way down from the owlery all the way down to the boathouse. A thrill had gone through him when he'd attached the note to the owl and sent it on its way. There was nothing to be done about it now. Even if he had wanted to. The mixed feelings and rush he was getting fueled his descent to the boathouse.
Slowing his pace and stopping, Silas panted as he doubled over. Catching his breath he stood up and went to sit in one of the boats. As he sat he reflected how things had been so much simpler when he was younger. As a first year he hadn't known to what degree of havok and trouble each succeeding year would bring. Or how much more it was getting dangerous or what a slippery sloap he was on. One wrong move in either direction would send him into an inescable abyss.
Laying down he let the sound of the water lapping at the hull lull him. Not aware he'd shut his eyes until they snapped open, Silas listened. Someone else was down here. Shooting upright as he pulled his wand he snapped, "Lumos!"
Seeing whom it was, curiosity filled his tone. "What are you doing down here?" |

| A boat ride could be a good date. There was only one way to see if they were allowed to use them. He really should have been put in Gryffindor with as lazy as he was. This witch was worth the extra work though. This is why he made his way from the tower him and the rest of the Ravenclaws called home all the way down to the boat house. It was a long way. Something like a million miles. That meant something he was sure.
Riley made it in twenty minutes after a near run in with peeves. That poltergeist was a nightmare Riley couldn't afford at the moment. He walked around the dock trying to envision the date and how he would set it up when someone popped out of one and Riley was so close to the edge that the surprise sent him off balance. He teetered with his arms flapping wildly trying to regain his balance but it ended up doing no good because he fell in the water.
Coming up spluttering Riley treaded water . "Bloody hell mate! Give a bloke some warning before popping out of no where." |

| Arching a brow, Silas replied, "Where would be the fun in that?"
It would have helped if he knew someone was coming. It would help Riley if it hadn't been Silas. He had no reason to warn the other. Watching his fellow Ravenclaw in the water he asked, "So what are you doing down here? You realize girls don't come down here?"
The other boy was infamous with his perusal of the opposite gender. Or did Riley have a date set up for down here? If that was the case then Silas would leave as quick as possible. He still had to make sure that he knew what he was going to say if the Headmaster decided to reply to his owl. There was the owl he would have to compose to his mother and what he was to say to Draco. His going to see the Headmaster wouldn't go unnoticed.
"Or were you hoping to change that?" Despite himself, he was curious. |

| Evangeline had no intentions of going to the Boathouse, but when you were being chased throughout the castle by your older,Slytherin brother, and especially not for a good reason, you just ran and ran until you reached somewhere, and that's where Eva appeared to be.Running away from Nathaniel isn't as easy as it seems, especially when you're a girl and a gang of older boys is running after you, only to hurt you. These were times that Evangeline wished she had a friend to stand up for her,or help her through this for that matter. But no one was brave enough to stand next to her against her brother, and no one was her friend either, for that matter.People just tend to call her weird,or creepy.
After trying to calm her breathing for a few minutes,Evangeline looked up,only then noticing the other two guys being there.Damn! Why did she have to walk in the wrong place the wrong time, all the time?Maybe the boys were discussing something personal,or maybe she had just stumbled upon friends hanging out.Either way,Eva remained staring at them for a while, her eyes travelling between Silas, the boy she had met the other day,and another boy.Her heart was still beating fast, and her hair was all messed up.Her loose curls were now all over the place from all the running, while her face looked flushed. "I'm sorry..I didn't want to interrupt...I was just..it's complicated..,"she said and looked behind her, just to make sure that Nathaniel hadn't followed her.
She knew that he would be waiting for her to make an appearance once again,if he didn't jump out of nowhere, for that matter. She finally turned her gaze back to the boys, smiling warmly,as she decided to start a friendly conversation. She couldn't leave just yet.She had to make sure Nathaniel was away.So why not try to be friendly?"So,what are you two doing down here?I am Evangeline,by the way,"she said, more to the guy that she didn't know. There were many people that didn't know her,and many people that she didn't know as well. She might be a Pureblood, and come from a well known and rich family, but she wasn't as popular as her brother. |

| The water was cold and reasons for being down in the boathouse did not include swimming. That was better done when it was warm outside on a bright sunny day with witches around. The other ravenclaw prefect didn't look like he was going to help any and he did have reasons for being here so Riley pulled himself back up onto the dock. He sat there in his sopping set clothes looking relaxed and shook his head vigorously to remove some of the excess water in his hair and didn't care if it hit the other bloke.
"That only shows what you know mate." Riley said to the other with his crooked smile. "I happen to know for a fact many witches come down here and not usually alone if you know what I mean." He wriggled his eyebrows suggestively just as a witch burst in on them and he gave the other bloke a see what I mean look. He recognized the witch as a member of his house and year and her name escaped him.
He turned his smile on her and leaned back on his palms and spread his legs out. "You're not interrupting. Name's Riley. This here's my faithful sidekick. We're something like a batman and robin team trying to save exploring witches like yourself from the horror of the giant squid. He just saved me from certain death. He deserves a hero's welcome don't you think?"
Riley winked at the witch suggestively and got up from the dock and walked away from them whistling. "See you Robin." He called to the other bloke and with a little luck maybe the other prefect would actually make it to second base.

| Evangeline was glad that she hadn't interrupted anything. It's not like she wanted to be here in the first place. She was at the Library, reading a book, when Nathaniel and his little pathetic gang appeared and dragged her out of the Library. She didn't know how,but as soon as she was out of the Library, she somehow freed herself and started running, not knowing where this would lead her.But since it was away from Nathaniel, she was good. The fact that she ended up here wasn't a bad thing, since there were people who didn't want to hurt her,but it was bad as well, since Nate-as he liked people to call him-,could pop out of nowhere at any minute, and she had no way out.
Though Riley's words brought her back to reality, and made her raise an eyebrow.Batman and Robin?Evangeline had read about them in muggle books called comics, and it kind of made her laugh that he thought they were heroes. But since he wanted to play that way,she could always play along to his little game. After all,she had nothing to lose. She glanced from Riley to Silas, then back to Riley again as soon as he finished talking, and she smirked evilly."Giant Squid, you say?So that's what I saw the other day when I was walking by the Black Lake, huh?" Of course Eva was kidding, but it was funny how he tried to make themselves sound so...heroic.
As Riley winked at her and got up,Evangeline smirked at him and waved as he left the two of them behind. She waited a couple of minutes, before slowly making her way over to Silas, smiling slightly.Well, who was she to miss the fun?And since the game had started, she would end it,as the winner."Well,it seems you are one amazing guy.A hero.Saving your friend's life from sure death...And of course, since Sir Batman, who isn't here now, asked it so politely,I could always give you something for saving him.." Evangeline then reached up,and brushed her lips against Silas' softly, kissing him just for a few seconds, before pulling back with a big smile."So,how was that?" |

| His roommate was something else. Something that he did not want to contemplate. Silas had looked up when Evangelina spoke curious about why she looked as if she was being chased as well as grateful for the distraction. Of course as soon as Riley spoke it had him whip his head towards him with an incredulous look. What was he going on about? A rodent man and a bird? And now he was going to leave him here? Not that he really minded since he had come here seeking solitude in the first place. Nor did Silas blame his fellow Ravenclaw for leaving after falling in the water. Sopping wet clothes did not make for an enjoyable day.
Warily, Silas watched as Evangeline approached and how her demeanor changed after talking to Riley. As she continued to approach him he wanted but did not open his mouth to ask, "What friend?"
As far as he was concerned Riley was not a friend nor was he an enemy. He was a nonentity. Much like Evangeline had been before they had talked in the Common Room. Brown eyes widening as he just registered what she said, his entire body froze as she raised herself on her toes to try and match his height. Even as he guessed what was coming, he was caught unawares. His heart sped up as he stared at her with a mix of feelings the more prominent being confusion. Silas didn't understand why she would do such a thing. Or why she had wanted to kiss him at all.
Reflexively he licked his lips before swallowing and just gave a jerk of the head. Honestly he replied, "It- it was, nice."
What else was he to say to that? He'd never been kissed before and he found that he had liked it. Unused to trying to honestly compliment someone, he felt as if he was a bit on fire and quickly stepped away from the girl. Only, to find that he had misjudged how close he was to the edge of the pier. Instinctual he reached out to try and keep himself from falling, the only thing there however was Evangeline. |

| Evangeline was shocked with her self, but actually pleased with Silas's reaction. At first, she thought that before she even had the chance to kiss him,he would push her away and leave, but instead,he remained there frozen as she moved her lips against his.Her question came out in the hopes of it not being that bad.It was her first kiss, but didn't really want to admit it.Though someone experienced with these things would understand that right away.Thankfully, though,Silas seemed to enjoy it,which gave her more confidence. Her eyes went to his lips, again as he answered, and she bit her own lip, contemplating between leaving,or kissing him again.
Though before she had the time to react,Silas had moved away, and she felt her heart sink for a moment.Looking away, she didn't see how close they were to the pier, and as she went to apologise for the sudden kiss she had given him,she was pulled along with him into the cold water. Instantly,Evangeline begun shivering, and she clung to the nearest thing possible, who happened to be Silas. Eva didn't know how to swim, but she had never told anybody that. She had never learned how to,so she preferred staying away from places like these, but when she had come here, she was too lost, starring at Silas,to see that there was water around."Oh Merlin!I-It's cold.."
Shivering more,Eva looked down at herself, only to see that her shirt was becoming see through, which made everything so much worse. She was in the water, not knowing how to swim, clinging to Silas, wet to the core, cold, and with a see through shirt. What else could go wrong? "I...I don't know how to swim..." Scared that he'd laugh at her,Eva looked away, hiding her face in her long,-now wet-,hair.This was not something she had expected. |

| Silas' embarrassment was now complete. He hadn't meant to grab the girl and as soon as he'd hit water it was like a shock to his system. Having let go of Evangeline when they'd gone under but was clung onto by he tried not to swallow the water. Treading water he nearly laughed at her statement. An arm about to reach and untangle her from him stopped. Partly because he noticed the same thing she had which caused him to try and not stare.
Jerking his gaze away blushing horribly, he was about to open his mouth to speak when she beat him to it. Her words penetrated his confused thoughts and reactions to the girl in his arms. Scared and couldn't swim. "Bet you did brilliantly on the boat ride then," he commented half carelessly.
Never having been in this situation, Silas was at a loss. He did know that if she panicked she would take him down with her. Drowning was not the way he wanted to die. Nor did he want to die at fifteen. Keeping his voice calm he told her, "I need you to trust me. Not panicking would also be good. That could lead us both keeping company with Myrtel and Professor Binns."
As he spoke, Silas kept one arm moving in the water. The other he removed from Evangeline's waist. Taking hold of her wrist he added, "I promise I won't let you drown." |

| Evangeline had not planned this. She was only trying to run away from her brother, and she had come here to hide, but she certainly hadn't planned what had happened afterwards. Finding Riley and Silas here, was indeed a very nice surprise, and she couldn't say she was bothered by the kiss she and Silas had shared, but falling into the water....she just couldn't stand it.
After all, it was his fault they had fallen in, and clinging to him was the only reactions she could think of at that moment. She couldn't swim, and she had trusted him with that secret, and all he did was chuckle at her, which made her raise an eyebrow at him. "Bet you did brilliantly on the boat ride then," "Oh, you have no idea how I 'adore' that ride.." She rolled her eyes at him and bit her lip, keeping her eyes on him and hoping that she wouldn't drown.
Of course, she wanted none of them to die here, and die so young, be it wasn't her fault. Or was it? If she hadn't kissed him, he wouldn't have tried to get away, and they wouldn't have fallen. Which made her guilty of everything. Though the good thing was that he had liked the kiss, and that she was now in his arms, which felt extremely weird, but still amazing. "I need you to trust me. Not panicking would also be good. That could lead us both keeping company with Myrtel and Professor Binns."
As his hand started to move away, she almost yelped for a moment, but his words soon sunk in, and she took deep breaths, trying to remain as calm as possible. "I promise I won't let you drown." He held her wrist in a good grip, and all she could do was nod, and stare into his eyes. She had a feeling she could trust him, but feelings were nothing but a mist, preventing you from thinking clearly. Though wasn't that kiss a feeling's choice? "Just don't let me drown.." |

| "I promise," was the solemn answer given. He could have attempted another joke by telling her that he wouldn't want to miss her humor. He'd been hard pressed not to give in to her quip. Then again, he was more the brooding type.
"Contrary to what people say, I don't plan on being a murderer quite yet."
Mentally he swore and plotted revenge at his fellow prefect for running off. Silas was not a people person. He did not know how to put them at ease. Nor did he inspire trust. Evangeline's reply to his request was proof of that. It wasn't her fault but he disliked and felt irritation that his word did not meet her requirements.
"You'll need to let go though," Silas murmured as he went to move behind her. It was lucky he wasn't wearing his uniform. He'd forgone his usual attire for jeans and a long sleeved t-shirt. Thankfully Evangeline wasn't wearing hers either or that would have been a lot of weight.
"I'm going to put my arm across your chest and under your arm. Do not fight me." |

| "I promise,"
It was so simple, yet it meant so much more to her. It wasn't that she didn't trust him. In fact, she trusted him a lot more than she should, or let him understand. Trusting someone was hard for her, but with Silas... it was different, maybe? She didn't know why, since there was no specific reason, but just the fact that she had a crush on him, according to Ginny, was enough to let herself trust him, without him proving that he was the right person to trust.
The Gryffindor redhead had caught her looking at him, and then, there were questions being asked. Ginny was always the most experienced in this, so she heard to what she had to say. But Sky's opinion was more to her liking. Ginny had told her to flirt, and even use her body to get his attention, but Sky had suggested that she should try captivating his mind. And Evangeline totally agreed with this.
"Contrary to what people say, I don't plan on being a murderer quite yet."
"I... I never said you were... I don't believe you are a murderer... You know I don't..." No matter what other people said, Eva rarely ever trusted rumours. She wanted to have her point of view on the matter, and when it came to Silas, she knew he was who people thought him to be. He could be gentle and friendly, and he certainly didn't kill or curse anyone who stood in his way. At least that's what he had shown so far. But every coin has two sides. And she knew Silas was hiding something...
"You'll need to let go though,"
Evangeline went to protest but she stopped herself and nodded, wanting to prove to him that she did trust him. That it wasn't an act. Even though she was afraid, she had to fight this because deep inside her she knew that Silas wouldn't let her. "I trust you, Silas." She gave him a reassuring smile, and let him go, gasping softly as she felt him move closer. Even if she tried to hide it, just a small touch could send shivers down her spine.
"I'm going to put my arm across your chest and under your arm. Do not fight me."
Evangeline felt her cheeks get hotter, and she cleared her throat a little, trying to seem unaffected by his statement, but her heart started beating faster. Gathering up some courage, she put on a small smirk and calmed down. "I wont." She knew his touches were innocent, and that he felt nothing, but she had managed to steal a kiss, and he had liked it. She wasn't aiming for a relationship, since she doubted that's what he wanted, but she was aiming for a friendship. |

| When she said she trusted him, he let it slide. Not believing her since she had shown that she hadn't when directly after he had stated he wouldn't let her drown she asked him not to let her drown. Perhaps she only trusted him enough now because she realized that he was her only hope not to discover the bottom of the lake. He could have been cruel and left her to sink or swim on her own. That was how he had learned and he'd learned fast. It was his fault she was in the water though and so it was his responsibility to get her out alive.
Having her permission, Silas quickly moved his arm over her chest and under her arm. Bracing her with his hip he instructed, "Just relax and let yourself float."
Swimming with one arm was a bit difficult but he got the rhythm and shortly had them at the edge of the dock. Letting her go so they both could grab hold, he heaved himself out. Holding out a hand as an offering to help her up out of the cold water he gave her a small smile while shivering. "My sincerest appologies." |

| Evangeline knew that Silas didn't believe her. She could feel it under her skin. He was tensed, and didn't believe a word she was saying to him, and she could understand why. Purebloods were taught to treat people coldly, and believe nothing. She was taught the same, but decided not to do it. Because she simply didn't want to follow her father's and brother's rules. She was free, and she loved it. But there was always the slightest bit of fear that her brother would hurt her badly. She knew deep inside her, that if her brother had to kill someone, it would be her.
"Just relax and let yourself float."
His arm was now over her chest and under her arm, holding her close to his body. He wouldn't let her die. Something inside her told her he just wouldn't do it. And when he started swimming with her, a sigh of relief left her. She would be out of here alive, and she would owe him her life, or else she would be at the very bottom of this lake.
Soon, they were near the dock, and he released her, making her gasp and grab hold of it. He climbed out first, and offered her a hand to climb out, which she gladly took. She was shivering lie crazy, and she knew that she would be having a bad cold afterwards, but as soon as he smiled softly at her, she really didn't care. "My sincerest apologies."
Evangeline shook her head, as if telling him that he didn't have to apologise, and bit her lip. She owed him her life, even though he was the cause they had fallen in. Though she did not know how to pay him back, so she did the only thing she knew he would like, since he had told her himself. "Thank you, for saving my life. Guess Riley wasn't lying. Well... not all of them were lies. You are a hero..." She smiled at him, and softly leaned in once again. If he wanted to stop her, he could. But Evangeline would feel so ashamed afterwards. |

| Before he could refute her claim, Silas found himslef on the receiving end of another kiss. Like before, his stomach fluttered and cramped with anxiousness. Nervous, confused, and completely out of his depth, Silas still found himslef shutting his eyes. The feel of her lips against his own was soft and wet thanks to their impromptu swim. Shivering, he knew he should step away and suggest they go back to Ravenclaw Tower to change or risk hypothermia. His brain obviously wasn't completely in charge or his body had an idea all its own. Silas' left hand raised to cup Evangeline's cheek while he hesitantly added a bit of pressure to their kiss.
This had been the last thing he had expected or considered when he'd come to the boathouse. He'd come down here to gather his thoughts. To try and determine what exactly he felt and which side his loyalties should lie. Those thoughts were the farthest thing from his mind right now. The girl whom he hadn't even bothered learning the name of was now the sole focus; more or less. He'd never kissed anyone before and now this was his second. Uncertainty tried to take his confidence down a bit.
Opening his eyes, he quickly stepped backwards, mindful of the water this time. Flushed with both embarrassment and a bit of excitement he opened then closed his mouth. Clearing his throat Silas tried again avoiding eye contact. "I uh, think we should follow Riley's lead. Getting dry clothes on, I mean. Not um, the flirty behaviour..."
Deciding it would be best if he shut up, Silas did just that. His emotions and thoughts were roiling. Unsure if the girl was having him on or not. Wanting to escape the situation to try and understand what just happened. His upbringing would not allow him to run away and seem weak. |

| When Evangeline had kissed Silas the first time, it was one, because she wanted to see how kissing is really, and two, just to prove to the Redhead friend of hers, that she could have fun too. It was the only moment that she felt confident, really, but once she pulled back, she was the shy girl she once was. Confused, blushing, and completely unaware of what to do next.
Sometimes she just wished Ginny was next to her to tell her what to do, and other times, she thanked Merlin for not letting her being by her side at that moment. If Ginny was here, and saw what had happened, she would certainly tell her to do more than just kissing with Silas, but for Evangeline this was a very big step, which she doubted she could take right now, and she knew for a fact, Silas wouldn't either. So instead, she kept taking small, effective steps, and hoped it wouldn't backfire on her.
Though Silas reaction was the last thing she expected. When he didn't pull back, Evangeline thought that she was safe from the embarrassment, but when he cupped her cheek and deepened the kiss slightly, she simply was speechless. But she wasn't the one to argue when something good happened. So she kept kissing him, her hands grasping his shirt softly, as if to keep from falling.
Being the thoughtful one, this time, he pulled back and took a step back, getting them out of the danger of falling once again. She smiled a little and looked up at him trying to form words, and she almost giggled, but kept it hidden for her own good. She would have to talk to Ginny about this afterwards. "I uh, think we should follow Riley's lead. Getting dry clothes on, I mean. Not um, the flirty behaviour..." She cleared her throat and let her hands fall from his shirt, looking around uncomfortably. This was more awkward than she believed. "We umm, yes, w-we should..." She shook her head and moved away softly, looking for her books and bag. |

| "Right." Silas cleared his throat wondering as he did so hiw he could get himself in control again. How did one stop themselves from blushing or feeling as if they weren't as unsure as a first year muggleborn?
Glancing at Evangeline he knew he would ask about her. Maybe observe her but make sure she didn't catch him doing so. He still didn't know what to make of her. Recalling what he'd said to the yank over the summer still held true. That someone was showing interest in him and that it was Evangeline had him curious and naturally suspicious as well. What would she gain from this? Maybe he should seek out Riley, ask him about why he thought anything would happen upon his departure, and maybe ask his advice.
"Should we go then?" Holding out a hand, Silas wondered if she'd take it and why he was offering. In case she didn't and because he himself didn't know, he muttered quickly without looking, "The stairs and water don't mix." |

| Evangeline didn't really know how to react. She wasn't disappointed. If anything, she was quite happy that she finally kissed someone she actually had a crush on, and he didn't push her away. She understood it was sudden, and she was sure millions of things were going through his mind at the moment, but she would give him time to think. She wasn't ready to give up yet, but pushing him was not going to help. She had to seduce his mind and intelligence, and not his needs.
She looked down at herself, remembering that they were both wet to the core. For a moment, everything had gone blank, but now that she started feeling really cold, she started remembering how unfortunate their fall was. She sighed and pulled her wet hair up into a bun, some water dripping on her forehead. She quickly wiped it away and bit her lip, ready to leave when he talked, and she looked his way to see that he had offered his hand.
She remained staring at him for a while, not understanding such move. But it wasn't as if she understood whatever other move he made. He was different, and she just had to learn how to recognise what each look of his meant. Sometimes, the body did't quite do what we wanted it to do. However, she slowly slipped her hand in his, after listening to his 'explanation', and kept her eyes down. She didn't know if eye contact was a smart move now. "We should... be going... Before we catch a cold. I don't want you-, us, to catch a cold..." She stopped talking, since she wasn't doing a very good job and kept her eyes fixed on the stone beneath her feet. |

| Shivering slightly only partially due to his cold and wet state, Silas tried not to show anything as she took his hand. Ignoring that it seemed as if she also hadn't known what to make of gesture. He felt her stare but kept his gaze averted but found his eyes going to their linked hands. Threading his fingers with hers, he stared, eyes going a fraction wider at the way his stomach twisted. Not wanting to look at that too closely right now, he instead shoved aside all thoughts related to how unfamiliar this all was.
The Malfoy's weren't exactly ones to show emotion let alone positive. The Lestranges even less so. Having only interacted with his mother less than a handful of times, Silas could say that Bellatrix would not put up with anything remotely related to emotional. Having never recieved so much as a hug, Silas was unsure about what hand holding represented yet could not let go of Evangeline's. Maybe it was because she had offered him help and just spoke with him that night in the tower?
"That would be very unpleasant," he agreed about getting sick. "I dislike chicken soup."
Heading for the stairs, his long legs climbed them easily. Glancing every now and again to Evangeline he put down what he felt as the beginnings of a cold. There wasn't a reason he should feel responsible if she ended up sick. She had been the one to stay and to kiss him first. Licking his lower lip his brow furrowed. She had kissed him. Perhaps in jest with what Riley had commented on before his departure. The second time though hadn't been. That still caused him confusion. Giving Evangeline a smile as they left the boathouse he didn't let go of her hand until they reached Ravenclaw Tower, having almost forgot he'd been holding it.
(ooc: permission given to gm them leaving together. If not I appologize and will correct it) |
